The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced a new scholarship program for students in the North Eastern Region called Ishan Uday (NER). Every year, 10,000 new scholarships are distributed among NER students pursuing general degree courses, technical and professional courses, including medical and paramedical courses, under the Ishan Uday scholarship scheme. The students who are studying in India in a government or private higher secondary school, college, or university, including government residential institutes and eligible private institutes selected and notified in a transparent manner by the State government/Union Territory Administration concerned, will be eligible for the scholarship. Saksham is an MHRD Scheme being implemented by AICTE aimed at providing encouragement and support to specially-abled children to pursue Technical Education. This is an attempt to give every young student, who is otherwise specially-abled, the opportunity to study further and prepare for a successful future.
The candidate must be admitted into either the first year of a Diploma level course OR the second year of a Diploma level course in any of the AICTE approved institutions for the year. Students who are specially-abled and have a disability of at least 40%. During the current financial year, family income from all sources should not exceed Rs. 8 lakh.
